|All power supply units can also be used for ToolMod Pro Audio Modules, ToolMix analog Summing Gear and the ToolKit Channel Strip; however, the total power consumption of all devices supplied from a particular power supply unit has to be considered. If you're in doubt if a power supply unit is sufficient for a certain set of modules, please ask.
The power supply units use 19" rack-mounted housing; however, the capacity of the transformer, the voltage regulators, rectifiers, and the load capacitors is adapted to the output power. All units do not require fans; huge heatsinks on both sides of the housing allow sufficient heat dissapation when the installation of the device provides some airflow along the heatsinks. The mains voltage can be 230 V or 115 V; 50 Hz and 60 Hz are possible.
The output connectors is a 12-pin 'Siemens' multipin that is used for connecting the power supply to the console. In addition there are two 5-pin XLR connectors, wired in adt-audio's standard for the Tool devices.
A particular console, even if it is combined from several console frames, should be supplied from a single power supply unit to avoid any ground loops from different protective grounds that are connected to one console. However, processing gear and preamps can be supplied from ToolPwr units without any problems.
Like the ToolPwr power supply devices for the ToolMod Pro Audio Modules, the console power supply units have huge, oversized load capacitors and can deliver very high peak currents to maintain best possible transient response of the console.
Overheat and short circuit protection are self evident, as well as overvoltage protection and effective RF filtering, acceding the demands of the European CE rules.
All Power Supply Units deliver a balanced +/- 25 V output for the audio circuitry, a 15 V relay, logic, and lamps supply, 48 V phantom power and a 24 V supply for meters. The capacity of the different output voltages is adapted to the requirements of the console.
Special Meter Power Supply Unit
For using ToolMod console meter systems for another purpose without a console, a special power supply unit that provides only the meter power supply is available. This makes possible to use console meters and meter frames with ToolMix analog summing boxes or any other piece of equipment.
