The IO5-D/c Inline Module has 10 static sends. There are 6 mono auxilliary sends, a stereo cue send and an additional extention send that can be used in mono or stereo mode. It has its own busses, however it can be used to build floating aux send with the routing matrix as well. In addition, the short fader can be used to build additional sends.

Aux Sends, Cue Send and Extention Send

The 5MT Series D mixing console system offers 10 static sends and the choice to use the entire routing matrix to build additional floating sends. In total it is possible to send 12 mono signals or 6 mono and 3 stereo signal at a time.

The Send Section of the IO5-D/c Inline Module is divided into 6 mono Aux Sends, a stereo Cue Send and an Extention Send that can either be used stereo or dual mono. The Extention Send and the record chain fader can be used as mono or stereo in combination with the routing matrix for floating sends.

Aux Sends

There are 6 mono aux sends in total. All aux sends are post tape chain fader. Each send has its own REC switch and every pair of sends has a PRE switch. The REC switches select the record chain fader instead of the tape chain fader while the PRE switches change from post fader to pre fader. PRE operates for the record chain fader and the tape chain fader as well. In PRE mode, all the aux sends are muted by CUT and Solo. This function makes it possible to use solo also with some sends pre fader. Otherwise, these sends would still feed their busses, which would limit the use of the solo function. It is possible to disable the pre fader cut by jumper setting.

Cue Send

Unlike the aux sends, the cue send is a stereo send. It uses a level and pan combination and is assigned PRE tape chain fader. It has a REC switch and a POST switch; therefore, each fader can be selected in pre or post mode. The default setting pre fader allows the use of the CUE send for playback while recording without additional settings. The Cue send is not muted by CUT or Solo in pre fader mode but it has its own CUT switch.

Extension Send

The Extension Send is a multi purpose send system that operates basically as a stereo send. In this mode, the two pots are used as level and pan. The DUAL switch selects dual mono mode; now both pots operate as independent level controls. The extention send is post tape chain fader. There are 2 REC switches that can select the record chain fader in Dual Mono mode independently and a common PRE switch.

Unless the TO RTG switch is pressed, the extention send drives its own stereo bus. TO RTG assigns the output of the extention send to the input of the routing matrix and switches the extention busses off. The extention send overrides the default input of the routing matrix from the record chain fader, however, the TO-RTG switch next to the mix pan has the highest priority and overrides the Extention send. If the mix pan is assigned to the routing matrix, the extention send can not be used to arrange additional aux sends with the routing matrix in the particular channel.

If TO-RTG is active, the extention send drives the routing switches in stereo mode. The left pan setting assinges the odd numbered busses while the even numbered busses are assigned to the right pan pot output. If DUAL is selected, the lower pot drives the odd numbered busses and the upper pot drives the even numbered busses.

The details about the use of the record fader for additional aux sends are described here.
