Console Automation Keyboards

Any standard PC keyboard can be used with the CAS Console Automation. In addition there are several special keyboards available that can be installed in the master section of the console.

Standard PC Keyboards

It is possible to operate a CAS Console Automation with a simply PC keyboard. All functions are available thru the function keys and screen menues. In addition, the most important functions can be accessed by shortcuts.

adt-audio offers a range of special keyboards that are designed for the use with the CAS Console Automation. These keyboards can be installed in the master section of the console. In addition to the standard keys, there are 50 large format function keys for direct access of all CAS functions. The arrangement of these keys is designed with respect to the requirements of the operator. The picture shows the 4S Keyboard, that is commonly used with the Series D, Series S and Series C mixing consoles.

All special keyboards have an additional input port that makes it possible to install a second keyboard. This keyboard can either be another function keyboard or a standard PC keyboard. If a second function keyboard is installed, three keyboards can be installed in total. This can make sense in special situations, where the 4S keyboard can not be installed in the master section of the console. adt-audio offers smaller function keypads with 16 or 32 keys that can be installed in the fader bank of a console. These small keypads are an appropriate solution if there is not enough space available to build in a 4S keyboard. In this case, and additional keyboard is required.

Every 4S keyboard has an additional port that makes it possible to install 4 external keys. These keys can be simple switches. Any function of the system can be operated with these 4 additional keys.

The 4S keyboard, like all other special keyboards for the CAS Console Automation, use a special controller that makes it possible to change the programming of any key. Any keystroke, including special characters, can be programmed. The software is included; the CAS system allows the reprogramming of the keyboards without additional hardware.
