A surround pan pot for the distribution of a mono input signal to a 5.1 surround system.
4 controls determine the position of the mono input signal in the surround room. The LCR pan pot regulates the 3 front channels and the surround channels LS and RS in parallel. The setting of the divergence control determines the operation of the LCR pan as far as the front channels are concerned. If the divergence control is at its 0 position (all to the left), the LCR Pan regulates from 'all to left ' - left channel only, via 'center' center channel only to 'all to the right' - right channel only. Setting the divergence control all to right (100 %) the operation of the LCR pan changes to this law: 'all to the left' - left channel only, 'center' all three front channel on, same level, 'all to the right' - right channel only. Setting the divergence control to 70% reduces the level of L and R at the center postition of the LCR pan to - 3dB. The divergence control changes the impression of the width of the front signal .
The front/surround pan controls the front channels L, C and R against the surround channels LS and RS. The attenuation at the center position is 3 dB. The relation of the surround channels is determined by the setting of the LCR pan. In any position of all this control the left input channel is fed to the LS surround channel and the right input channel is fed to the RS channel.
An additional control is used to drive the LFE channel. This control operates like an auxiliary send. Like the center channel the LFE is driven with a mono signal. The calibrated control operates independent of all the other controls.
The inputs and outputs of the surround pan pot are electronically balanced. Addtional zero ohm current outputs for the direct connection to V700 Bus rails are also implemented.
The W748 surround pan pot is a half heigth cassette for use in V700 console frames
