This fully featured unit offer an unprecedented level of control over all features and functions, and provides the mastering engineer with a set of high performance tools that will perform up to and beyond his/her highest expectations.
The U796 stereo mastering dynamic cassette has balanced and floating inputs and outputs. All inputs and outputs can process levels up to +30dBu in the frequency range. The look-ahead regulation circuit of the device is VCA controlled and affords very fast, linear operation. A symmetric circuit is used for the entire audio chain and the internal headroom from input to output is +30dBu.
This stereo mastering dynamic unit offers a very precise and wide range of control that allows very subtle or aggressive tone sculpting. With the U796 the loudness of a program can be substantially increased without affecting the signal structure harmfully. The separate, electric rectifier stages for compressor, limiter and expander are tuned in their behavior for the peculiarities of their respective application. The look-ahead regulation circuits allow the fastest, linear characteristics to be realized.

All processor sections of the stereo mastering dynamic module operate independently and can be switched individually into or out of the audio chain. There is a balance control that allows balance adjustment between the two channels.
The U796 stereo mastering dynamic device is a doublewide V700 module and fits into two module slots of standard mounting frames.
