The U792 and U793 are Compressor/Expander dynamics modules with well laid out, simple controls for fast and easy operation. Units of this type are used in the 5 MT-Broadcast, D and C mixer series. These sonically outstanding devices provide effective dynamic treatment for all types of program material. The main point of these dynamics is their universal usability and simple operation. The ranges and the approach are based on the experience of over a thousand mixer channels that are fitted with this type of compressor/expander. The U792 is the mono version, and the U793 is the stereo version of the device.
The U792/U793 dynamics has balanced and floating inputs and outputs. All inputs and outputs can process levels up to +30dBu in the frequency range. The look-ahead regulation circuit of the device is VCA controlled for fast, linear operation. A symmetric circuit is used for the entire audio chain and the internal Headroom from input to output is +30dBu.

The expander of the devices U792 / U793 is served only by a threshold fader.
The curve of the expansion is implemented logarithmically. The farther the input level drops the threshold, the more the ratio increases. This principle makes possible a soft application of the regulation with the same big efficiency concerning the oppression of disturbances. The attack is always short, and the operation of the release is program dependent.
The stereo-version of the dynamics is technically identical, except that it has a full stereo circuit. The control of the expander takes place, in this configuration, by separated electric rectifiers always from the channel that supplies the higher level.
The U792 / U792 dynamics are standard V700 modules and fit into standard mounting frames.
