The U777 and U778 are probably the fastest, most accurate limiters you will ever use. This is a brick-wall limiter and leveling amplifier rolled into one that allows smooth predicable limiting or allows crunchy, extreme loudness. Not only are these units fast, they will not allow overshoot, retaining the qualities that define true limiters.
The U777/U778 has balanced and floating inputs and outputs. All inputs and outputs can process levels up to +30dBu in the frequency range. The look-ahead rule circuit of the device is VCA controlled for fast, linear operation. A symmetric circuit is used for the entire audio chain and the internal Headroom from input to output is +30dBu.
The device is implemented as a look-ahead Limiter with an AC-DC converter as a fast, peak value detector. These limiters are fast reacting, precise and will not allow overshoot.

The stereo-version of the device is technically identical, except that it has a full stereo circuit. The control of the expander takes place, in this configuration, by separated electric rectifiers always from the channel that supplies the higher level.
