The W796 is a mastering stereo equalizer with 4 fully parametric bands. The W796 allows the subtle tone shaping needed for vocals or mastering. Two of the main features of this Stereo Equalizer are its extreme accuracy and the level of control it affords.
The circuit design of the Stereo Equalizer is based on the phase coherent, active Vienna Robinson's bridge principle. The unit has frequency range of 20 hertz to 25kHz; each of the 4 overlapping bands offers 15dB of boost and cut and adjustable bandwidth, extraordinary resolution and transparency. The inputs and outputs of the Stereo Equalizer are balanced and floating and the entire audio chain benefits from dual symmetric circuitry, which results in the massive headroom of +30dBu.
All parameters of the Stereo Equalizer are optimized for accuracy even in the smallest areas. To compensate for any changes in volume or balance of the original signal caused by the Stereo Equalizer settings, the device is fitted with a level and pan control. The level control has a range of ± 10 dB; and the pan has a range of ± 3 dB, in the version with stepped-switches the steps are in accurate thirds. Every band of the Stereo Equalizer can be switched on or off independently in the audio chain, this allows you to check the effect of your settings to the original signal band by band.
Customized versions
Based on your request and requirements a fully customized/modified version of this module can be produced. The staggering and the range of the frequency regulation as well as the level regulation can be implemented according to your needs.
For mastering applications, the W796 Stereo Equalizer is supplemented optimally with a niveau filter W794.
The Stereo Equalizer module is a doublewide V700 unit and uses two module slots in a standard frame.
