The equalizer of the IO5-D/c inline channel is a 5 band system that combines three fully parametric bands and a HI-LOW EQ. All bands have a gain control range of +/- 20 dB. The fully parametric bands cover the entire audio range. These bands use the acitve 'Vienna Robinson' bridge principle that offers outstanding, distortion free, sound performance. The Split function allows to use the EQ in both signal chains of the module at a time.

5 Band Split Equalizer

The Equalizer of the IO5-D/c input channel is a 5 band system that offers outstanding sound performance. It combines an effective Hi-Low EQ with 3 fully parametric bands that are based on the active Vienna Robinson bridge principle. This principle results in a behaviour of the equalizer that is free of TIM distortion. Extreme settings are possible as well as slight modifications while the EQ remains crytal clear and clean.

The three mid bands cover the entire audio range from 30 Hz to 20 kHz. The sweep range of the bands are overlapping. This makes is possible to use at least 2 of the bands in the same frequency range. All bands have a gain range of +/- 20 dB. The Q factor can be adjusted from smaller than a third to wider than 3 octaves. The frequency range of the low mid band is from 30 Hz to 2 kHz, the second band can be tuned from 60 Hz to 7 kHz and the high mid band has a range from 300 Hz to 20 kHz. These large ranges make it possible to modify the signal in every desired way.

The three fully parametric bands are combined with a Hi band and a Low band Equalizer. These bands have also gain control ranges of +/- 20 dB. The default mode of the HI EQ is a low slope shelving curve that reaches its maximum above 15 kHz. This mode produces very nice, silky sounds. The 8 kHz switch selects a very soft bell type character for the HI eq, that has a center frequency of 8 kHz.

The Low EQ is always a soft bell type filter. This principle avoids that subsonic frequencies are increased by the low EQ. It is therefore not necessary to use the high pass filter to reduce subsonic interference when the low EQ is used with high gain settings. Two center frequencies can be selected by a switch; 60 Hz and 100 Hz.

The entire equalizer is switched into the signal chain by the EQ switch. When the Split function is active, the EQ switch bypasses the Hi-Low section while the SPLIT OFF switch bypasses the 3 band EQ.
